The Vacaville Unified School District takes pride in reflecting the importance and priority of the Vacaville community as we provide a quality educational

opportunity for our children. In all of our sixteen (16) schools, the quality of our standards-based programs provides the foundation for exceptional educational experiences. The Vacaville Unified School District provides for the interests and needs of our students through diverse opportunities including: English Learner and dual immersion bilingual programs, gifted education, special education, college preparatory, Advanced Placement courses, vocal and instrumental music, and technology education.
VUSD offers differing instructional settings and philosophies which enable students and parents to find the learning environment in which the student can achieve greatest success. Buckingham Charter Magnet High School, Fairmont Charter School, ACE Charter Elementary School , Independent Study Program, and Country High Continuation School all provide varied instructional strategies or settings.
I believe it is the people in our community who make the difference in our students’ lives. The VUSD teaching staff, support employees and managers, parents, and community partners are invested in our children. A broad cross-section of stakeholders participate in the review and refinement of our Strategic Plan, which defines our District’s core values and priorities. This Strategic Plan provides focus to our Board of Trustees and District Leadership as we address District issues.
The Vacaville community has supported Vacaville Unified School District in maintaining a forward educational focus and refinement during this California Fiscal Crisis. Our employee groups have assisted the District in reducing cost commitments; various advisory committees, parent booster groups and foundations, and community service clubs have provided significant support for co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. All of these efforts have supported the continued improvement of our student performance outcomes and provided for our students’ continued growth and success.
I am honored that the Board of Trustees has selected me to lead the District during this time. This is a challenging, and at times, an unpredictable undertaking. The work is difficult, meaningful, and has impact. But for all of us in Vacaville Unified School District and in public education, now more than ever, each day we all work to make a contribution to our students.
At home, at work, or in our schools, I welcome your participation in this effort.
Dr. John Niederkorn
